Sustainability Planning

Brief Description of Topic Sustainability is a key component of any successful project. It is the continued, consistent implementation of effective prevention policies, strategies, and practices. Ideally sustainability is a part of any planning process or program from the very beginning, adaptable to changes in funding, leadership and community structure. “Ultimately, sustainability is about maintaining positive outcomes in communities” (CSAP Keys to Sustainability, PowerPoint 2009).

Sustainability Planning Toolkit: This toolkit is a step-by-step guide to developing a quality sustainability plan. It is developed from national resources including Community Anti-Drug Coalition of America (CADCA), Center for Applied Prevention Technology (CAPT) and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and it assumes there is a coalition as well as a strategic plan in place.
